This will be a time to relax with your peers, enjoy a round of golf and, most importantly, raise funds for some stellar high school students. More information on this opportunity will be included in the VAHCDO Golf Tournament Information Packet.
The VAHCDO conference will also include a Scholarship Luncheon where the best and brightest high school students in Virginia share their personal experiences growing up in subsidized housing. They tell their stories as to what motivated them to stay focused on their academic and professional aspirations. This is always an inspiring and emotional event and you can expect even more this year.

April 28, 2017
8:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
In a Policy Analysis report published by The CATO institute in April 2012 titled “The American Welfare State–How We Spend Nearly $1 Trillion a Year Fighting Poverty—and Fail”. Evaluation of the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program suggest that although the benefits to graduating from the FSS program, for escrow savings, are substantial —there's great need for improvement. In so much that program administrators should consider different approaches that will target FSS services more effectively to adequately address the barriers that jeopardize a participant’s Success”.
FSS University is a component of the One Million Moms OFF Welfare National Initiative– a 10 year exit strategy which partners with FSS programs in order to advocate for policy reform and systems changes, innovate program delivery and educate and empower families to achieve self-sufficiency.
